Each Butter Braid is just $12 and comes frozen.  You just keep it frozen until you are ready to bake it.  When you are ready, you will let it thaw over night (or all day) and then bake and enjoy!

Order now through March 22, 2012 and the Butter Braids will be delivered to the Church on March 29, 2012. Just in time to enjoy for Easter!

The event will be another great one and the bands lined up to play will keep all the teens enthused!!  We will see Tenth Avenue North, Shonlock, Hyland, Akintunde and The School of Worship.

If you are interested in attending, you will need to pick up your Butter Braid order form, and commit to selling at least 15 Butter Braids.  This will help with the cost of the event.  Your personal commitment will be $30 and then selling the Butter Braids.  You must attend 5 Youth Group meetings before Acquire the Fire to be eligible to go.

The pageant is free, and open to everyone.  Please come and support our kids and let them renew your Christmas spirit!

The Ecumenical Church of Pueblo West is located on the corner of Spaulding and Conquistador Ave.

Invite your friends to join us at youth group, invite people that you think may need some guidance or structure. Invite those teens that you are worried about, that may not have God in their life yet. You never know how much your invitation will mean, but sometimes it may be the one thing that helps someone get through a hard time.

With the start of the new school year, we begin with all kinds of emotions that go along with it.  Fights among friends, broken relationships, betrayal by someone you trust, bullying, competition among teammates, name calling, the list goes on and on. Don’t take part in things that you know will hurt someone else, the smallest word or gesture can sometimes be the tipping point. Be true to yourself and to those around you.

As a Christian, we are asked to help share the word! You can do this by praying for those in need. This can be fellow schoolmates, friends, family, neighbors, even people you don’t “personally” know, but need help or healing. Sometimes we find our selves praying for loved ones that need comfort or guidance. You don’t have to pray for someone just because they are sick. Their are lots of people that are lost, overwhelmed, heartbroken or feel forgotten. You can make a difference!!

If you need help with an issue or have a friend in need of more than what you can give, please know that I am always available to help. We also have trained adults within our church that will help in any way we can.  You just have to make the first step.

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, ’If I could only see the world, I would marry you.’

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, ‘Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?’ The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him  Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: ‘Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.’

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone who has nothing to eat..

Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone who’s crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven..

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job..

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on Your face and think: you’re alive and still around..

When you stumble make it part of the dance.

This year we will head to Denver on Friday afternoon and come back on Sunday afternoon.  The Homewood Suites has been an awesome hotel to work with and we will  stay there again this year.  The group is always anxious for the fun at the hotel, either watching movies, playing basketball in the hotel court, swimming, hot tubing, and always eating!

On Saturday we are going to do something a little different – we are all going to go as a group to one of the restaurants near the Denver 16th Street Mall.  Some suggestions were: Sams No. 3, Hard Rock Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Dickey’s BBQ Pit, Good Times Burgers, Tokyo Joe’s, Sandwich Board just to name a few.  I would like for everyone that is going to give me your input so we can make a group decision.

On Friday and Saturday night we will do the usual run to the restaurants near the hotel and everyone can choose what they want.

The hotel provides an incredible breakfast each morning that is included with our room rate, so we have that meal covered.

I am really excited for this year’s event and we have a great group of teens attending.  We have some that have went before and quite a few that have never been.  Hope all of you are as excited about the event as I am!

Remember, everyone that is attending needs to sell 15 Butter Braids to help with the expense of the trip. Orders are due on April 11 and they will be delivered to the church on Thursday, April 21 (just in time for Easter).

If you were unable to attend the movie marathon, I highly recommend taking the time to watch the movies on your own.  We are all looking forward to seeing the newest movie that was just released!
